Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues in the dashboard, CLI, and API.

Scans & credits

  • 0 scans remaining — Monthly allowance may be used up. Check sidebar balance. Buy a scan pack or wait for renewal. Pack balance rolls over; monthly allowance resets each period. See Plans & usage.
  • Scan failed — Open the scan for the failure reason (timeout, job error, unreachable target). Failed scans do not use credits.
  • Scan stuck running — Refresh the page. Long runs can take several minutes. If status never changes, contact support with the scan id.

Targets

  • 0 targets remaining — You are at capacity. Remove a target, add a subscription slot (Get More), or upgrade plan. Existing targets over the cap are not deleted automatically.
  • Cannot add target — Confirm authorization checkbox and valid URL format.

CLI & API

  • command not found: slate — Add install dir to PATH; see Install.
  • 401 Unauthorized — Invalid or revoked API key. Create a new key at Settings → API keys.
  • 402 Insufficient credits — Top up scans in the app.
  • 404 on API — Verify SLATE_API_URL points at the production API host.

Billing sync

If Stripe shows an active subscription but the app does not reflect add-ons or plan changes, wait a few minutes for webhooks to process, then refresh. Persistent mismatches: email contact@slatesecurity.ai with your workspace id and Stripe subscription id.
