Terms of Use
Effective May 23, 2026 · Slate Security, Inc.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Slate Securityplatform and related websites and services (collectively, the “Service”) provided by Slate Security, Inc.(“Slate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account, running a scan, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Slate Security provides automated security scanning of web applications, APIs, and related targets that you configure. The Service identifies potential vulnerabilities and presents findings, severity ratings, and remediation guidance.
The Service is an assessment tool only. It does not guarantee that all vulnerabilities will be found or remediated, and it is not a substitute for professional security advice, penetration testing under a separate engagement, or compliance certification.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account credentials and API keys confidential.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account, including actions by team members you invite to your organization.
- Notify us promptly at legal@slatesecurity.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit targets or run scans without proper authorization
- Use the Service to disrupt, degrade, or attack systems (including denial-of-service, excessive load, or destructive testing beyond reasonable automated scanning)
- Attempt to access, probe, or scan Slate's own infrastructure except as we expressly permit
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or circumvent technical limits of the Service except where law permits
- Upload malware or use findings to exploit systems without authorization
- Resell or sublicense the Service except as allowed in a written agreement with us
- Use the Service in violation of export control, sanctions, or other applicable laws
We may investigate suspected violations and suspend or terminate access without refund if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law.
5. Your data and scan results
You retain ownership of data you submit (including target URLs, configuration, and content derived from your systems in scan results). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that data solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Scan results may contain sensitive information about your applications. You are responsible for controlling access within your organization and for handling findings in accordance with your security and compliance obligations.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit targets and to allow us to perform scanning on your behalf.
6. Plans, trials, and billing
Paid plans, scan credits, add-on packs, and free or promotional scans (including homepage trial offers) are subject to the pricing and limits presented at signup or on our pricing page. Unless stated otherwise:
- Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled according to your plan terms
- Scan credits and add-ons are consumed when a scan is successfully started under your account rules
- Trials may be limited to new accounts or specific offers and can be modified or discontinued
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in writing
We may change prices or plan features on reasonable notice for future billing periods. Taxes may apply based on your location.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including software, branding, documentation, and non-customer content, is owned by Slate and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks except as needed to identify the Service.
Feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation.
8. Confidentiality
Each party may receive confidential information from the other. You agree to protect the confidentiality of non-public information about the Service (including unreleased features and pricing). We agree to protect your non-public scan results and account data using reasonable measures, subject to the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that scans will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete; that all vulnerabilities will be detected; or that findings are free of false positives or false negatives. You use scan results at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SLATE AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Slate and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) targets you submit or scans you run without proper authorization; (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; or (d) your negligence or willful misconduct.
12. Term and termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use the Service. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you breach these Terms, pose a security risk, or if we discontinue the Service.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
13. Changes
We may modify these Terms or the Service. We will post updated Terms on slatesecurity.ai/terms with a new effective date. Material changes may be notified through the Service or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Exclusive jurisdiction for disputes arising from these Terms or the Service lies in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@slatesecurity.ai to attempt informal resolution.
15. General
- Entire agreement — These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Service.
- Assignment — You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a business transaction.
- Severability — If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
- No waiver — Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
Security of the Slate platform
If you believe you have found a vulnerability in Slate Security itself (not a customer target), please report it responsibly to legal@slatesecurity.ai. Do not test our production systems without prior written authorization.
